YearBeyond Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme
This programme, YearBeyond, is a Youth Service partnership between Government, the National Youth Development Agency, donors, and NGOs. YearBeyond is a national programme that provides unemployed youth with meaningful work experience and a pathway to further studies or work, while at the same time encouraging a culture of community service
YearBeyond’s education programmes provide learners in low- and no-fee public schools with literacy, numeracy, life skills, and psychosocial support, and literacy and physical development support for pre-school children and their caregivers.
The YearBeyond is made up of four education programmes: Literacy and Numeracy Catch-Up Programme, WCED @HomeLearning Programme, Scouting in Schools Programme, and Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme.
YearBeyond’s social cohesion programmes build bridges between community spaces that provide public services and the communities they serve. This includes broadening access to facilities and services, building a culture of reading, and raising public awareness around key issues.
YearBeyond has two social cohesion programmes: Libraries Programme and Placemakers Programme.
Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme
The YearBeyond Little Explorers ECD Programme supports ECD Centres and households in local communities. The programme builds pre-school children’s literacy and gross motor skills by encouraging a love of stories and supporting physical movement.
What are YeBoneers duties?
YeBoneers on the Programme work in ECD centres and run a literacy, gross motor, and fine motor programme once a week for the centres. Every afternoon they visit households whose children do not attend an ECD centre.
