Facilitators Needed to Conduct HIV/AIDS Prevention Activities

Nature of the position: 12 Months (1-year) Fixed-term contract

Position description summary:

The Male Facilitator will oversee the provision of core prevention packages for HIV/AIDS, TB, and STIs. A professional nurse will supervise the work of ENs, HTS counselors, and Linkage Officers to manage performance and set targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Mobilize AYBM in and out of school to engage in core intervention and participate in HIV prevention activities.
– Coordinate all AYBM activities at satellite spaces and schools.
– Submit and consolidate weekly plans, as well as weekly and monthly reports.
– Provide support and information on recreational and program activities to ABYM.
– Plan and organize recreational activities at the site and schools.
– Complete all required administrative tasks and report to the site manager.
– Identify vulnerable AYBMs and link them to appropriate PSS interventions.

 

 

– Conduct GBV awareness events in the community and safe spaces and refer victims to support services.
– Ensure sufficient resources for each intervention.
– Communicate session schedules and venues with AYBM.
– Record sessions and submit registers to M&E for capturing.
– Facilitate and co-facilitate peer education, dialogues, and recreational services in safe spaces and the community.
– Conduct risk assessments, offer HIV testing services, provide information, distribute condoms and lubricants, develop service plans, and refer beneficiaries for required services.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

– Matric/Senior certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
– Post-Matric relevant qualification is advantageous.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Strong communication, listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent planning and facilitation skills.
– Ability to engage with AYP in a friendly and professional manner.
– Experience in facilitating educational and informational sessions on health-related issues.
– Knowledge of HIV, TB, and STI prevention approaches and DoH guidelines.
– Understanding of health challenges facing AYP and ability to communicate and work effectively with them.
– Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends, and be based in rural areas.
– Age between 18 and 30 years.
