IEC: Special Votes Administration Staff (Data Capturers)

Duration:19 days (01-19 May 2024)

Payment: R370.00 per day (subject to statutory deductions and days engaged)

Job Purpose:

To contribute towards strengthening electoral democracy processes by assisting the Electoral Commission in capturing of applications for special votes and paper section 24A notifications for the upcoming NPE2024 at municipal level.

Minimum Requirements:

1. South African citizenship
2. Registered voter status
3. No recent political involvement or affiliations
4. No recent election candidacy or office in politically affiliated organizations

5. Must have no serious criminal convictions
6. Some form of training or further education preferred
7. Must have access to a mobile phone
8. Proficiency in relevant local languages
9. Must have a valid bank account

Competencies required:

1. Proficiency in relevant local languages
2. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
3. Strong interpersonal skills
4. Professionalism and impartiality

IEC: Special Votes Administration Staff

Responsibilities:

1. Capture special vote applications using dedicated systems
2. Capture paper section 24A notifications

Additional Information:

– Temporary contract position involving weekend work
– Mandatory training before registration event
– Successful candidates undergo Party Liaison Committee verification
– Applications require comprehensive CV and certified copies of qualifications, bank statement, tax number, and ID
– Applications received after the closing date will not be considered
– No high party political profiles allowed

Please Note:

– Successful permanent candidates will enter performance contracts
– Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by SAQA evaluation
– Failure to submit requested documents will result in application rejection
– Recommended candidates undergo risk assessments, including verification of qualifications and background checks
– Twelve-month probation period for permanent employees
– Electoral Commission will only correspond with short-listed candidates
– Electoral Commission reserves the right not to make appointments or to withdraw/re-advertise positions as needed for service delivery.
