DEMOCRACY EDUCATION FACILITATOR AT IEC
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric or equivalent
- Must not be younger than 18 years
- Must be a registered voter
- Must not be related to an employee of the Electoral Commission in that specific municipality
- Must have a cell phone or access to a cell phone.
- Must be familiar with the municipality or ward in which she/he is applying;
- Must have demonstrable good knowledge of the wards/municipality, its civil society structures and leadership; and
- Must not hold any political position or be involved in any political parties’ campaigns.
- Must not have been an office bearer of a political party in the last 5 years
- Must no be or have been a candidate in an election for the National Assembly, a provincial legislature or a municipal council in the last five years
Democracy Education Facilitator at IEC –
Key Performance Areas:
1. Conduct non-partisan civic and democracy education (including voting and balloting education) on behalf of the Electoral Commission in collaboration with other employees of the Electoral Commission such as Municipal Electoral Coordinators (MOCs), Regional Outreach Officers (ROOs), Regional Assistant Manager (RAM) Local Electoral Project Officer (LEPO)
2. Proactively organise / arrange gatherings / opportunities for delivering civic and democracy education in the assigned ward/s
3. Draw up a schedule of interventions (workshops, meetings, events or similar) for the wards to which she/he is assigned;
4. Prepare and deliver presentations where appropriate

5. Facilitate and conduct educational interactions with community members
6. Distribute the Electoral Commission’s educational and campaign materials such as pamphlets, factsheets, etc. in assigned ward(s) and during scheduled interventions
7. Compile and submit reports and supporting evidence as required for all interventions. Supporting evidence includes but is not limited to duly signed attendance registers, programmes, timesheets and any other forms as may be required from time to time to the Municipal Outreach Coordinator weekly or on an agreed upon day
8. Perform any other duties relating to civic & democracy education as assigned by the relevant Provincial Electoral Officer.
