We invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of a Hostel Assistant at the Observatory near Sutherland.
PURPOSE: General housekeeping, do laundry. Working weekends and overtime, when required.
DUTIES: General housekeeping of hostel, offices and rooms, i.e. making beds, cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, etc.
General housekeeping of site buildings, i.e. cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, etc.
Assisting with washing and ironing
Assisting with food preparation.
Shift work is required and including over weekends.
REQUIREMENTS: Matric or Equivalent
Good customer service
Knowledge of hygiene regulation
Proficient in English
Great customer services skills

ABILITIES
Sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors using general cleaning equipment
Arrange decorations and furniture for social functions
Clean areas surrounding buildings, such as paths and entrances
Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms and other work areas
Dust furniture and equipment
Remove stains from fabric or carpets
Transport trash and waste to disposal areas
Wash windows, door panels and sills
Work without constant supervision
Use of Industrial Cleaning Materials
